Luckygray appears to be at his best ahead of his attempt to win back-to-back Railway Stakes title in Perth this Saturday November 24, 2012.
The five-year-old pleased trainer Gino Poletti with his work early this morning.
Going on that alone, Polettti feels Luckygray could again win the 2012 Railway Stakes this weekend.
“His work this morning was at least on par with last year,” Poletti said.
“This is a different preparation for him this year.
“He had a strong preparation into the Railway last year.
“This time he has come in off a light prep, which I am very happy with.
“He definitely is a bit bigger and stronger than he was last year and I am banking on that.”
Luckygray has drawn barrier 12 for the 2012 Railway Stakes, which pleased Poletti.
However, he was unhappy with Luckygray’s top weight of 58 kilograms in the race and feels that some of the other runners warranted carrying the same weight.
“I’m pretty happy with the barrier,” Poletti said.
“I realise we had to be topweight but I just reckon a few others should have been there with him to make it a more even race.
“It is hard for this horse, but I am very happy with him.”
Luckygray has won 11 of his 16 race starts and has earned more than $1.27 million in prize money.
