Nolen Backs Plucky Belle In 2013 Railway Stakes

November 21st, 2013

Jockey Luke Nolen believes that Plucky Belle can take out the 2013 Railway Stakes at Ascot this Saturday.

Plucky Belle is a $8 chance at to win the 2013 Railway Stakes.

The five-year-old has won four of her 16 race starts and has earned more than $267,000 in prize money during her horse racing career.

Plucky Belle has drawn barrier 14 for the 2013 Railway Stakes, however, Nolen is confident that this fact won’t hurt her chances.

“I don’t think the draw is a disadvantage because she has to be ridden in the second half of the field,” Nolen told The West.

“We drew wide at her last run (barrier 14) and she is produced like that. She has a devastating turn of foot.

“I see her being in a similar position to that last start.

“Her first two runs have been excellent and she deserves a chance at the race.”

Plucky Belle won the Group 3 Lavazza Short Black Stakes at Flemington by almost one and a half lengths last start.

Nolen will resume riding after injuring his knee in a mounting yard fall at Caulfield last Saturday.

“The knee is fine but whether I go over (to Perth) on Friday night or Saturday will depend on how good my weight is,” Nolen said.
